A troubling case has emerged in south-west Sydney, where authorities are investigating the disappearance of a woman following a reported home invasion. Hours later, a person was discovered in a burnt vehicle nearby, raising concerns about a possible connection.
Police Respond to Disturbing Incident
At approximately 10:30 PM on Thursday, officers were called to a residence in Bankstown after receiving reports of a serious disturbance. Upon arrival, they found evidence suggesting an unauthorized entry had taken place, and a 45-year-old woman was reported missing.
Two children, aged 8 and 15, were present at the time. The younger child was found injured outside the house and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to the hospital. He underwent surgery and is now in a serious but stable condition.

According to Superintendent Rodney Hart of NSW Police, several vehicles arrived at the home, including a white sedan and a dark-colored SUV. A group of five individuals, dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered, allegedly entered the property without consent.
“These individuals entered the premises and subjected the woman to harm,” Superintendent Hart said. “An object believed to pose a threat was also present during the incident.”

Roughly an hour later, fire crews responded to a vehicle fire on Welfare Avenue in Beverly Hills, around 6 kilometers from the Bankstown home. Upon extinguishing the fire, responders found a person inside the vehicle.
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry explained, “While vehicle fires are not uncommon, it is extremely rare to discover a person inside. The fire had already developed significantly by the time our team arrived.”

Although formal identification is still pending, investigators believe the individual found in the vehicle may be the missing woman. Forensic testing and a coroner’s report are underway to confirm the identity and determine the circumstances surrounding the case.
